Hey just wanted to start another thread for the big fight Saturday night. I havent been this excited for a fight since Tyson-Lewis, and this one should be more competitive. Let's keep things rolling here and get some final predictions from the boxing experts.

Oscar by controversial split decision.

Whenever a marquee bout looks so one-sided on paper, something is bound to happen.

Two of the judges who gave Oscar the win over Sturm have been enlisted for the show. That's a VERY rare occurence in boxing, and should be reason enough to lay off - unless you think Hopkins is so much more equipped than DLH as to get the KO.

Exactly! Oscar wins or draws in a decent fight
and the public(suckers) scream for a rematch.
Expect the unexpected, as has been said. DLH
by decision can be had +375 or so. Best value
from what I can see. Not sure how good my vision is as I've gotten older, but Oscar really
wants this for legacy, and I think Hoppy just
loves the payola. Hopkins fights for prize money
and Oscar does too but pride means more to him.

i have some serious money(for me) on hopkins at -177.......

now that i`ve heard that dave moretti is involved in another vegas bout,it scares the hell out of me.....

oscar is arum`s boy and the house fighter in vegas.....moretti is one of the house judges...marc ratner should be ashamed of himself....

i`m getting a little uncomfortable.....to say the least...

i can envision a shitpot load of pitty-pat punches from oscar....the type of garbage that can be just enough justification for biased judges to give him rounds.....

i can see him trying to steal rounds in the last 30 seconds with b.s. flurries that may look cute but are basically window dressing....thanks to "the great"(lol) ali....the guy that did nothing for 2:45 of rounds then threw furious pitty pat flurries for 15 seconds and had idiot judges coming all over themselves.....

and i can see hopkins being a little to deliberate.....

i don`t like the way this thing is shaping up....

when i heard moretti was involved(the same moretti that gave oscar the 12th round vs sturm and gave brewster the 12th vs meehan)i started to worry.....

there are times when i hate betting boxing....all you want is a fair shake....

i`m really not in the mood to get screwed here...

Well, you have a good enough price on Hopkins that you can easily scalp it if you want to. I was going to bet Hopkins until the deal with the judges. Now I will just watch because I enjoy boxing.

i was looking for a big score here....but,i think you are right,v.....

i can get an "ass-covering" oscar by decision at 5 dimes for +360.....

this way i won`t get shtupped unless oscar manages to stop hopkins....and if that happens,i won`t be able to show my face anymore anyway,so wtf.....

oscar stopping hopkins.....whew....what a thought....my worst frickin` nightmare....

if that happens,it`s time to call the f.b.i....the c.i.a.....the moussad.....the k.g.b.....the gestapo....and maybe even Oprah......

lord.....

i`m getting cold feet...

Oprah - thats hilarious. I suggested you do the hedge with Oscar by dec when it was over +400 and you totally blew me off. Might not be a bad idea huh?

Anyway, I'm pumped. I leave Friday and got $1200 seats. I'm even going to go to the weigh in Friday afternoon. I'll say hola to your boy Marquez for ya Spinch.

i wouldn`t blow you off,buddy.....even if you like "chimichonga" de la hoya......

you are entitled to a mistake after your gatti win...lol

if oscar gets a bogus decision here,i`m gonna bitch.....and i`m making a call to chuck zito.....so be prepared...

enjoy yourself at the fights.....the rubio/jantuah bout is gonna be a pisser....don`t miss it...btw,where`s the line on this one?...jantuah knocked out daniel santos if i recall...and only has one loss....rubio is undefeated.....two punchers...

finally, tell marquez for me that, last time i looked, most fights start in the first round....not the second or third....

have a good time....i can`t wish you good luck...

I already made the mistake Im entitled to - listening to you guys on that Brewster under play. Kidding. What about those football picks? Jesus christ I cant pick my ass in the regular season. But for the last few years I've done good in the playoffs. Go figure. Actually I think its because the better team alot of times doesnt win in the regualr season.

Anyway, Rubio? Is that the guy that beat Bojado and then lost to him in the rematch? Funny with JM - you cant be too hard on the guy though - he didnt lose you any money.

So are we going the total opposite way? Are you playing the under also?

it`s a different rubio....a jr middleweight....

to be honest,i did hedge my hops bet....with the dlh by decision....

i was looking at hops inside the distance....not sure

i`m going to wait and see how deeply the "dlh fan club" cuts into these odds right before fight time,,,i expect the odds to drop....maybe i`ll put a little more on hopkins....

even though the judges and venue seriously scare me,i just don`t see dlh beating b.h.....

but,who the f-ck can say with absolute certainty?....

i was so sure about hopkins...but there are to many peripheral issues that are causing me rethink a really big play.....

How can people be so sure that Hopkins can't KO Oscar? He Ko'd Trinadad, and to be honest i dont see a KO, but i see a stoppage by the referee or by the corner. Anyone see Willam Joppy's face back in december? Nobody would let that happen to Oscar. Read the interviews with Hopkins, he has already said that he doesnt trust the judges, and wont let them have a say in it. If you think Oscar wants this for his legacy, Bernard wants it 10 times more. He is the kind of guy that will do what he says.
Oscar is fast, but he isnt that fast. He is Sugar Ray Leonard fast. Just watched that fight last night. Oscar isnt even close to him in speed. I really see Hopkins breaking him down and taking him out late. This man doesnt trust anyone, and he will do whatever it takes to not let the judges have a say.
Sphincter, dont let all the DelaHoya backers scare you off. It happens every fight. We know anything can happen in boxing, but we also know the likely scenario here and thats hopkins with a TKO. I expect DLH to win the first few rounds... Wont get me worried. I have won money both Mosley-DLH fights, and i went with my instinct.. I wont change here. I see good value with Hopkins at Ko, TKO for +210..... I told all the Tyson backers to be careful last time. I took Willams because he was bigger, stronger, hungrier, and in better condition. Hopkins is the same here..... I think we will be fine. All of the similarities with Leonard-Hagler make you think twice though

In my opinion thats where your guys's problem lies. In seeing what Hopkins does to subpar fighters and then seeing how DLH looks against A class fighters and say "wow Hopkins looked great and Oscar looked horrible". We'll see how Felix Strum turns out.

And DLH aint Joppy and Hopkins didnt knock him out. DLH has alot more skill than Joppy.

We'll finally get this question answered Saturday night.

i hear ya`,h.c.c......you`re preachin` to the choir....i think i`m still shook from nate campbell giving away a fight and emanuel augustus having one taken away....

a quick look at the tale of the tape says something to me....

hopkins is a full 3" taller...if not a little more..

he has a 3" reach advantage....

he has a 12" fist compared to dlh`s 9" baby fist...and dlh`s size 8 foot...

he`s a bigger, thicker boned guy... and while you can make a case for oscar fighting the vargas`,quartey`s and the mosley`s,none of them are full fledged middleweights....robert allen and joppy are....there`s a limit to how high up the ladder even the very best can go vs the best in their natural weight class...

sturm illustrates this..and he`s not one of the very best.......and you can make the excuse that oscar wasn`t in shape among others....doesn`t matter...he struggled mightily vs the only full fledged middleweight he ever fought...

..winky vs mosely was another example.....arguello vs pryor...even all time greats like duran have trouble when they take one step up the ladder to many...

now he fights the best full fledged middleweight...

i read an article that stated that behind the scenes, roy jones begged don king not to let tito trinidad fight hopkins....he knew what would happen......this was back when there was still talk of jones/trinidad at some catch weight...

unless something strange happens,it`s gotta be bernard...and i don`t think that it`s totally far fetched that he makes oscar quit....

and let me add...it doesn`t matter if dlh gets blown out...just the fact that he is willing to go all the way up to middleweight to fight the best middleweight in the last 10 years(roy outgrew the class),is enough for me....he has been willing to fight everybody....stepping up in weight as he goes....winning as he goes...

silver spoon or not,dlh deserves everybody`s respect and thanks,,,,he`s been the main pulse of boxing for quite awhile...

he`s the one selling these tickets....not hopkins....

he`s the reason why, once the dlh fan club hits vegas friday,we should see these odds nosedive a bit....

No doubt, thats why im waiting for the odds to drop. I also lost the Campbell fight that night, and i think alot of us did on th RX. It was the kind of thing that made you remember that we are betting on sports and anything CAN happen.
But someone like Hopkins can make me feel calm because he wont let anything take this moment away from him. Could you see him if he lost. Its not possible to him. I watch these videos on Maxboxing and other sites, and Hopkins isnt overlooking anyone. I think he wont just beat him, but take him out. I also saw the last pressconference, and i really think DLH looks very nervous. Hopkins looked calm and focused. I def think it will be interesting though. I love DLH and he is great for boxing. He made superstars out of Trinidad and Mosley, they wouldnt be where they are without him, win or lose.
DLH should lose anything from his legacy from a loss here. He is taking a chance and giving us great theater and a great show, something boxing desperately needs. Im very confident putting my money on a guy like Bernard.

Who gave DLH anything? What "silver spoon"?
His good looks, personality and popularity
make people jealous and envious. He's been boxing since he was a half-pint. His good looks
detract from his toughness and heart. I'm not
picking anyone here, but BOTH of these guys have
earned everything they have so may the best man win. But it shaping up as Oscar bashing week and
it basically sucks.

franks...what i meant was that other people say that dlh came up with a silver spoon..the yellow brick road......and to an extent, things have come much easier for him than say,a hopkins...

super amateur prospect....olympic star...he`s the mexican prince...with cross-over appeal...a singer....a celebrity...he transcends boxing...

while hopkins was a thug...

let me add that oscar earned everything....his resume is one of the best, imo,in boxing history....he,at times, carried boxing on his back....

soccer moms know dlh is fighting hopkins saturday...because it`s dlh....thay had no clue that hopkins fought trinidad...or know who the hell either guy is...

he`s never ducked anyone....and now,i believe,he`s overextended his reach...

i`ll hurt if he pulls this off...in my wallet...

but there is a part of me that will be sort of pleased for oscar....

you have no idea how many times i`ve defended him on the net and with my boxing buds....many people do resent him....many people resent success....affluence....stature....standing....

you love him or hate him...

this country is experiencing that sort of dislike internationally as we speak....

it goes with the territory...

OK bud, I hear ya. I guess I over-reacted
because there are so many dead beats running
around I did'nt want to see a champion
get
disparaged because he has movie star looks.
Peace out!

Hey nobody here is ripping on Oscar. I have a ton of respect for him, and if what i expect to happen, (Hopkins pounds on him slowly over 10 rounds, and then finishes him off) i will be very happy, but sad for Oscar as well. He is the man in boxing, and he has earned everything. But he was marketed right out of the amatuers, with a multi million dollar deal before he stepped in a pro ring. Hopkins was self made, much like a Hagler or a James Toney of today.
As far as the fight goes, I think Oscar has the better skills, but Hopkins has a burning desire so strong i could never bet against him. Instead of the usaul comparison to Leanord-Hagler, i think this is very simalar to a recent fight. Jones-Tarver. Jones talked how much he wanted it before the fights, but Tarver wanted it more. He was more hungry. In the second fight, he wasnt going to be denied. I see those same things from Hopkins.
watching the final press conerence, Oscar looked nervous. Kind of like a man that knows whats coming
